COMPARISON

Scott's Cheap Flights vs. Next Vacay

Never overpay for flights again

Cheap flights are out there, you just need to spend hours searching for them. Or you could join Scott's Cheap Flights. Since 2015, we’ve helped millions of travelers see the world for less. We find amazing flight deals that save our two million members an average of $550 on international economy flights, $200 on domestic economy flights, and even up to $2,000 on international business class flights.

While we think we’re the best flight finding service out there, we know we’re not the only game in town. Here’s how we compare to Next Vacay.

What is Next Vacay? What does Next Vacay do?

Next Vacay was founded by Naveen and Shaylee Dittakavii in 2014 and now lists 19 employees on its website. Next Vacay is a subscription service that sends its members emails when they find discounted airfare. They monitor flight prices, and when fares drop, they let members know. Members then book the flights directly with the airlines.

They monitor fares mainly for international economy class but also let their members know about Mistake Fares (when airlines accidentally cut prices by much more than intended) for international business class flights. They also occasionally send deals for domestic destinations such as Hawaii or Alaska.

Members select their home airport and they will receive deals from that one airport only. However, Next Vacay only serves 60 US airports so many smaller departure airports are not available.

How much does Next Vacay cost?

Next Vacay costs $25 per year.

Is Next Vacay legit? Is it worth it?

Next Vacay is a legitimate company. They have more than 600 reviews on Trustpilot with an average rating of 4.2 out of 5. Several bloggers have reviewed their service, with varying opinions. While some people raved about the deals they received, others were disappointed in the volume and quality of deals, and in the lack of available airports served (only 60 US airports).

Canceling your Next Vacay account

Next Vacay offers a 30-day trial, during which you can cancel your account and get a full refund. Their terms of service also state that if you’re not satisfied with the service and write in before the six-month mark, they’ll refund the annual fee. Otherwise, you can cancel when the one year service is up. However, some online reviews have indicated that getting a response from their customer service team can be difficult. One reviewer mentioned that they wrote in three times and only heard back when the credit card her renewal fee was paid on was declined.

How does Next Vacay’s service compare to Scott’s Cheap Flights?

Scott’s Cheap Flights serves more than three times the amount of airports as Next Vacay—183 airports and counting—so there’s a better chance your airport is available for deals. Additionally, you can opt to receive deals from more than one airport (up to 10 airports for Premium members and unlimited airports for Elite members) so if your area is served by multiple airports, you won’t miss a deal.

While Scott’s Cheap Flights is more expensive, it also includes deals that Next Vacay doesn’t send, like frequent domestic deals all over the US, and Weekend Getaways for short trips in the upcoming month. Premium members receive multiple economy class deals per week (or per day, depending on the airport) while Elite members also get deals in business and first class. Additionally, for those not ready to commit to an annual fee, Scott’s Cheap Flights offers a free version (called Limited) that includes a small sample of international deals sent each month.

“I get far more deals from SCF. And what I would call actual deals. Next Vacay sent me things like $900 to Europe from the US East Coast. That's not a deal in my book.” - Member Darcy V.

Why should I join Scott’s Cheap Flights over Next Vacay?

Next Vacay costs about half as much as Scott’s Cheap Flights Premium membership, and we think our higher prices reflect the higher value we provide. Additionally, Next Vacay only serves 60 US departure airports, about a third of the airports SCF serves.

What does Scott’s Cheap Flights do better than Next Vacay?

Helping you wander around the world or closer to home

Scott’s Cheap Flights sends our members deals to places both far, and a little more near, because we know many travelers are just as excited about a great deal to the Netherlands as they might be to NYC.

Next Vacay rarely sends domestic deals, and when it does, they’re typically to Alaska and Hawaii. Both of those places are amazing—that’s why we send lots of deals to them to our members!—but there’s a lot more of the US to explore.

More airport options = more chances for deals

Premium members of SCF can get deals from up to 10 departure airports (handy if you live in, say, Milwaukee and don’t mind driving an hour to Chicago to snag an amazing deal) while members of Next Vacay can get deals from only one. That means you could miss out on some fantastic fares from nearby airports.

We got you, Bestie

Every deal we send our members has to pass the Bestie Test. If it’s not a deal we’d send to our best friend, we’re not gonna waste your time with it. Next Vacay sends deals on certain low-cost carriers that just don’t meet our standards, due to their never-ending parade of extra fees, cramped seats, or unreliable service.

The devil is in the details

In every deal, we include all you need to know: the travel dates, airlines, extra fees, how long the deal should last, and anything else you might need to know to decide on the deal, like info on long layovers, visa requirements, and Covid restrictions. We lay it out in an easy-to-scan format so you can quickly decide if the deal is for you, book it (or not), and get on with your day.

Next Vacay’s emails are a bit light on the details and the info is buried in a wall of text. Want to know about bag fees? You might have to scroll through several paragraphs to find out.

“There's literally not a subscription service out there with a better value than SCF!” - Member Austin S.

Scott's Cheap Flights reviews vs Next Vacay reviews

Scott's Cheap Flights has more than 2.700 5-star reviews on facebook, and every week we hear from thousands of members who have booked flights from our deals. Next Vacay has about 600 reviews, also with an average of 5 stars.

The bottom line

Next Vacay offers a lower-cost alternative to Scott’s Cheap Flights but with that lower price point comes a reduction in service. For an additional investment, SCF Premium offers you the chance to depart from more airports, and snag deals (including weekend trips) to more places in the US. Plus, our Bestie Test ensures you only get the most amazing deals out there, and we make it super easy to scan a deal quickly for the information you need.

About Scott's Cheap Flights

In 2013, Scott Keyes nabbed a $130 roundtrip flight to Milan from NYC. When he got back, all his friends asked him to let them know the next time he found a great deal. The email list he started was the foundation of Scott’s Cheap Flights.

Today, we’re a company of more than 30 people serving more than two million members. We’ve been featured on Good Morning America, Travel + Leisure, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and more.
